About Our Massage School

Brandon Raynor started teaching massage classes in Sydney, Australia in 1997 on a part time basis. By 2000 he had started to teach full time and was running massage classess in Brisbane, Australia as well. The Brandon Raynor massage school expanded to include teaching classes in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and the Gold Coast by 2001. The school’s massage classes were extremely popular in Australia especially with people aged 20 to 50 who didn’t have the time or desire to go back to a full time school.

The increasing demand over the last few years for the Brandon Raynor massage training has turned our institute into Australia’s largest massage school.

By early 2002 the massage school had expanded into Tasmania and by late 2002, the first massage classes in the UK and the United States were being launched.

The first London massage classes were very popular and were followed by classes in Manchester and Edinburgh. People in the UK were very excited to learn this new, very strong and effective style of massage.

Boston was the first American city that our massage school class was offered in. The class was held on the premises of the East West Shiatsu School in Cambridge. The owner made the comment to Brandon that he was very surprised by how much people learned in such a short period of time and how happy the students seemed to be with the class they undertook.

By 2003 Brandon Raynor’s massage school also held classes in Honolulu, Hawaii, Billings, Montana and Burlington, Vermont as well as continuing to hold classes in the London area of the UK every 3 months. The first massage class in Montana had 34 students and was taught by both Brandon and his wife Rebecca.

To represent the needs of our massage school graduates, we have also set-up an association called the International Natural Therapies Association (www.natural-therapies.org).

Every massage class we offer is generally focused on the 3 pillars of our practical, hands-on massage education:

Giving massages: We feel that it is very crucial that our students start massaging from the very beginning of the class. We believe that to study massage means to learn by doing. In this way one can, in a very short period of time, develop the sense of touch needed to be able to; connect to the massage recipient, detect tension in muscles and connective tissue, appreciate the energetic relationship between massage therapist and client, and begin to witness the impact of different manipulations on the body. Learning by doing is the biggest focus in any Raynor massage class.

Receiving massages: You can’t really become a good massage therapist without experiencing all of the massage techniques on yourself. Receiving a massage treatment will give you great insight into how each massage technique actually ‘feels’. This will help you to develop a sensitivity for the reactions and bodily cues of your future clients. Understanding your clients needs will be the key to your success as a masseuse.

Demonstration by our teachers: A Raynor massage class always includes teacher demonstrations of the various massage techniques and strategies used to release tension and blocked energy in the body. We know for a fact that seeing a technique performed by an experienced massage teacher will be of tremendous benefit to your career as a massage therapist.

All practical work in our massage classes will be done under the supervision of our teachers. They will also use creative teaching strategies including media-like audio and video presentations to enhance the learning experience.
